WSND Presents: The Cask of Amontillado

Performed by South Bend-area high school students and directed by two Film, Television, and Theater students at the University of Notre Dame. WSND-FM is proud to present this live recording of their performance of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado," which took place on October 3rd, 2010, in 140 DeBartolo Hall on the campus of Notre Dame. It was presented in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts' "Big Read Program," the University of Notre Dame, and St. Joseph County Public Libraries.

Episode 6 of WSND News, originally broadcast on December 3, 2009, features John Fetterman, mayor of Braddock, Pa., and nicknamed "The Mayor of Hell" for his work in stabilizing a town that has seen the iron industry leave and take with it jobs and a way of life. WSND News - November 19, 2009

Inspired by the words of Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to the US last year, the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture focused its annual conference on "The Summons of Freedom: Virtue, Sacrifice, and the Common Good." In Episode 5, WSND News features some of the speakers from the conference, including Michael Novak, Rick Garnett, Alice von Hildebrand, and Frank Beckwith, and talks to them about a wide array of topics.

WSND-FM Veterans Day Tribute

In honor of all those who served, WSND-FM offers a special tribute, originally broadcast at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2009, to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country by reading "In Flanders Fields," by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McRae, and playing Taps.

WSND News - October 15, 2009

Episode 2 of WSND News (originally broadcast on October 15, 2009) focuses on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and includes interviews with Dr. Horst Teltschik, former national security adviser under German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, as well as former U.S. Ambassador J.D. Bindenagel, who served on the ambassadorial staff to three Germanies - East West, and United. Together, they talk about their memories of the night the border was opened and what the fall of the wall means for the European people.

Women's Basketball Media Day

The Notre Dame women's basketball team opens play with an exhibition game against Indianapolis on November 3rd, and today they held their annual Media Day. Coach Muffet McGraw, Ashley Barlow, Erica Williamson, Brittany Mallory, and incoming freshman Skylar Diggins will be looking to take the Irish back to the NCAA championship tournament after a disappointing end to their year in 2008-09.
